Passenger Terminal Amsterdam verkozen tot haven van het jaar

De Passenger Terminal Amsterdam (PTA) aan de Piet Heinkade in Amsterdam heeft de prestigieuze Seatrade Award in de categorie ‘beste haven’ binnengesleept.

De cruiseterminal liet San Francisco en het Portugese Leixoes achter zich.

Via de PTA komen jaarlijks bijna 300.000 passagiers en 90.000 cruiseschipmedewerkers de stad binnen.

De organisatie van de Seatrade Awards was in het bijzonder te spreken over de zogenoemde crew pass, die de cruiseterminal in het leven riep en waarmee bemanningsleden van een cruiseschip korting kunnen krijgen bij verschillende winkels op de Zeedijk.

Passenger Terminal Amsterdam introduces a Crew Pass

René Kouwenberg, director of Passenger Terminal Amsterdam and Janny Alberts, director NV Zeedijk announced the Amsterdam Crew Pass – a card that gives crew members discount in the city’s participating shops and restaurants.

Last year, a dedicated area for crew members was opened inside the terminal, with free WiFi, multiple electricity points, lounge chairs, water, etc.

Zeedijk is a popular area for shopping and by giving discounts, the area wants to attract more crew members, Alberts said. A large variety of shops and restaurants can be found in the street, that is located on a 15 minute walk from the terminal.

There are many Asian shops and restaurants. The text on street signs around the Zeedijk and Nieuwmarkt is in both Dutch and Chinese characters. De Zeedijk area is also called the Nautical Quarter.
